Maybe McCarthey needs to be appointed so Friday when SCOTUS rules on the case, he will be fired and can't hold office again. That is the only scenario that makes any sense for Trump backing him

Me either. There will be a 7th vote today and I hope the 20 patriots that are standing in the gap continue to hold the line. McCarthy 's actions speak louder than any lip service he has to offer.
