HONOR GOD

A FAITHFUL AND JUST GOD

One That'sof the central aspects of the gospel message is that every human has fallen short of God's moral standard. We've all sinned, or missed the mark of living rightly. We've all messed up, made mistakes, and acted in a way that goes against God's design for our lives.

Sin separates us from being in a right relationship with God. But while we were separated from God, Jesus made a way for us to return back to Him through His death and resurrection. Now, we can be in a relationship with God again!

But even though we've been forgiven for our sins, it doesn't always feel that way. We can still carry around the guilt and shame from our sinful actions--even though we've been forgiven by Christ.

A PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God, I confess that I have not always been the person You've created me to be. I sometimes fail to love You with my whole heart, mind, and soul. I do not always love my neighbors as You love them. Please forgive me, God. Transform my heart and renew my mind so that I can draw closer to You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

THE LORD'S PRAYER

Luke's version of the Lord's Prayer has not been handed down as the traditional prayer that we pray, but it really doesn't make much difference. Although we pray the Lord's Prayer, it was given as an example of how to pray. Think about what it says. We should begin our prayers by praising God and giving glory to His name. We let Him know how important it is for Him to reign over both heaven and earth, and that His will be followed as faithfully here as in heaven. Once we have praised God and His plan, we can ask God to fulfill our needs. We also ask God to forgive us and we promise to forgive others. We recognize that temptation is all around us and that sometimes we fail to do the right thing and so we ask God to watch over us and protect us from evil.

Lord God, my faith is in You and the power of Your Word. It was Your Word that brought the universe into existence out of absolute nothingness. It is by Your command that all things continue to exist instead of lapsing into non-existence. It is by Your Word You make us new creatures in Christ for Your eternal glory! Amen.

Wonderful Counselor,

I know that You understand me far, far better than I understand myself. So I come to You with my problems and insecurities, seeking Your counsel. In the Light of Your loving Presence, I can see myself as I truly am: beautifully clothed in Your flawless righteousness. Even though Your righteousness is perfect, I realize I will continue to struggle with imperfections--mine and others'--as long as I live in this world. But Your Word assures me that my standing with You is secure. Nothing in all creation will be able to separate me from Your Love!

You have been on a long, uphill journey, and your energy is almost spent. Though you have faltered at times, you have not let go of My hand. I am pleased with your desire to stay close to Me. There is one thing, however, that displeases Me: your tendency to complain. You may talk to Me as much as you like about the difficulty of the path we are following. I understand better than anyone else that stresses and strains that have afflicted you. You can ventilate safely to Me because talking with Me tempers your thoughts and helps you see things from My perspective.

Jesus Always: Embracing Joy in His Presence by Sarah Young

BE CAREFUL not to attach your sense of worth to your performance. When you're dissatisfied with something you have said or done, talk with Me about it. Ask Me to help you sort out what is truly sinful and what is not. Confess any sins you're aware of and receive My forgivenes gratefully. Then live in the freedom of being My beloved believer. Don't let your mistakes and sins diminish your sense of worth. Remember that you have been declared "Not Guilty" forever! There is no condemnation for those who are in Me--who belong to Me. You are precious to Me, and I take delight in you, so refuse to condemn yourself.

Jesus Calling: Enjoying Peace in His Presence: By: Sarah Young

October 5th,

Remember that Joy is not dependent on your circumstances. Some of the world's most miserable people are those whose circumstances seem the most enviable. People who reach the top of the ladder career wise are often surprised to find emptiness awaiting them. True Joy is a by-product of living in My Presence. Therefore you can experience it in palaces, in prisons . . . anywhere.

Do not judge a day as devoid of Joy just because it contains difficulties. Instead, concentrate on staying in communication with Me. Many of the problems that clamor for your attention will resolve themselves. Other matters you must deal with, but I will help you with them. If you make problem solving secondary to the goal of living close to Me, you can find Joy even in your most difficult days.

Take a few deep breaths, and thank God for allowing you to find rest in His presence.

Spend some time enjoying the stillness of this moment.

A PRAYER FOR ENDURANCE

God, help me to never become tired of doing good things. As I grow closer to You, give me the endurance to serve and love others no matter how I'm feeling. I want ot bring those around me closer to You--so please help me to act more like You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

A PRAYER OF THANKS

God, Thank You for having mercy on us. Thank You for choosing to save us through the gift of Your Son--even though we did nothing to deserve it. Every good gift that we have is because of You. So today, remind me of Your free gift of salvation, and give me the boldness ot tell others about Your amazing love. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

PRAISING GOD FOR HIS GOODNESS

God, You are good. No matter what goes on around me--You are good. You are worthy of my praise because You are God. You provide for me, strengthen me, deliver me, and heal me. Even when I don't see You at work in my life, that doesn't change the fact that You are working. There is no one like You. So regardless of what I face today, I will worship You! In Jesus' Name, Amen.
