Yet for years I swam around in a sea of meaninglessness-searching for Love, hoping for Hope. All that time, You were pursuing me, ready to embrace me in Your compassionate arms.

REFRESH YOURSELF IN THE PEACE OF MY PRESENCE

This Peace can be your portion at all times and in all circumstances. Learn to hide in the secret of My Presence, even as you carry out your duties in the world. I am both with you and within you. I go before you to open up the way, and I also walk alongside you. There could never be another companion as devoted as I am.

Because I am your constant Companion, there should be a lightness to your step that is observable to others. Do not be weighed down with problems and unresolved issues, for I am your burden bearer. In the world you have trials and distress, but don't let them get you down. I have conquered the world and deprived it of power to harm you. In Me you may have confident Peace.

SOMETIMES MY SOVEREIGN HAND-MY CONTROL, over your life-places you in humbling circumstances. You feel let down, held back, and powerless to change things. You long to break free and feel in control of your life once again. Although this is an uncomfortable position, it is actually a good place to be. Your discomfort awakens you from the slumber of routine and reminds you that I am in charge of your life. It also presents you with an important choice: You can lash out at your circumstances-resenting My ways with you-or you can draw closer to Me.

BE STILL, AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD

Most Christians are familiar with this command, but not so many take it seriously. Yet for those who do, blessings flow like streams of living water. As these believers sit in stillness-focusing on Me and My Word-their perception of Me expands and their troubles shrink in importance.

I want you to share in these blessings, beloved. Take time, take time with Me. While you rest in My Presence, I untangle your thoughts and help you view things more biblically. Remember: My Word is a lamp to guide your feet and a light for your path. Biblical thinking illuminates the path before you so you can find your way.

God, thank You for carefully creating me. I was not a mistake-I am a creation You thoughtfully designed. Thank You! Today, please help me to see myself the way that You see me. Show me how I can take part in the plans You are preparing me for. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

SHOW ME YOU'RE NEAR

God, thank You for being near. You hear me when I call out to You, and You answer me. I know this, but sometimes I can't sense Your presence, or I question Your response. In those moments, please remind me that You are my source of strength. Show me that You care, even when I can't sense that You are near. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

A PRAYER FOR GUIDANCE AND COURAGE

God, in You I have all I need. But when trials come, sometimes I forget that You are in control. I need to You to make me strong and courageous. Please give me the courage I need to trust in You. Remind me that You are with me, and that You will continue to instruct and guide me. Show me that You are near. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

STAYING ON THE RIGHT PATH

Okay, we have just celebrated Christmas and are still in the Christmas season. Are the decorations down? Are the good feelings still there? It is just so once we have accepted Christ into our lives. It can be difficult to maintain joy and peace of being a follower of Christ.

Sometimes we want to pick and choose the commandments we take seriously, the people we choose to love and treat kindly. Just as the Israelites in the dessert turned on Moses and complained against the God who saved him, we can decide that the road to salvation is too difficult. What does Jesus mean when He asks us to love our enemies or forgive those who have hurt us? Do we really have to do that? What about telling the truth or not gossiping and ruining someone's reputation? This quote from Hebrews includes a quote from Psalms 95. The Israelites test the Lord who saved them.

I want to be all Yours! I invite You to wean me from other dependencies. You have shown me that my security rests in You alone-not in other people, not in my circumstances.

Trying to depend on only You sometimes feels like walking on a tightrope. Yet I don't need to be afraid of falling because Your everlasting arms are a safety net underneath me.

RELAX IN MY HEALING PRESENCE

Relax in My healing Presence. As you spend time with Me, your thoughts tend to jump ahead to today's plans and problems. Bring your mind back to Me for refreshment and renewal. Let the Light of My Presence soak into you as you focus your thoughts on Me. Thus I equip you to face whatever the day brings. This sacrifice of time pleases Me and strengthens you. Do not skimp on our time together. Resist the clamor of tasks waiting to be done. You have chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from you.

Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O LORD. PSALMS 89:15

RELAX IN MY PRESENCE

Relax in My Presence, knowing that nothing can separate you from My Love. The worst-case scenario in your life-that I might stop loving you-is not even in the realm of possibility. So rejoice that you don't have to perform well enough to earn My Love, or to keep it. This Love is pure gift, flowing out of My own perfect righteousness. It secures your connection to Me-your Savior-for all eternity.

Since the worst thing imaginable is not possible, you can relax and live more abundantly. When things are going well in your life, I want you to enjoy those good times fully-without worrying about what is on the road ahead. When you are facing tough times, I will help you and strengthen you with My Love. Even though you live in a world where trouble is inescapable, you can be of good cheer because I have overcome the world!

I AM YOUR JOY!

These four words can light up your life. Since I am always with you, the Joy of My Presence is continually accessible to you. You can open up to Me. Try saying, "Jesus, You are my Joy." My Light will shine upon you and within you as you rejoice in Me, you Savior. Ponder all I have done for you and all that I am to you. This will lift you up above your circumstances.

When you became My follower, I empowered you to rise above the conditions in your life. I filled you with My Spirit, and this Holy Helper has limitless Power. I promised that I will come back and take you to be with Me in heaven-that you may by where I am forever. Whenever your world is looking dark, brighten your perspective by focusing on Me. Relax in My Presence, and hear Me saying, "Beloved, I am your Joy!"
