Although some of that is automated probing for holes to infiltrate.
I used to run some internet honeypots. Within 5 minutes of putting one up it was getting probed and attacked.

Scalper bots can do just about anything. I can plug a device onto the Internet with a public IP address, and within seconds, it gets requests from a scanner bot. It's insane.
