A few things happen ;
The dollar inflates greatly before it collapses (Rome).
The metals market jumps as metals become more valuable ( only so much in the ground).
Silver has been slipping again, which IMO is a good indicator that it will get rough soonish.

well it's a real asset so will maintain it's value while the fiat will continue to drop in any perceived value. investments will back the gold based currency. Basel III rules move physical gold from being considered a Tier-3 asset to being considered Tier-1, which allows physical gold in bullion form to be counted at 100% value for reserve purposes.
