I know that most of you here are very conscious beings and care about our planet, however supporting electric vehicles that run on Lithium batteries is NOT eco-friendly at all.
Lithium is mined from rock, so they have to put a huge hole in the ground, after it's mined, they use strong chemicals to extract it into a useful form. This extraction process is very resource demanding and specifically uses a lot of water in the extraction process.
Over 500,000 gallons of water is consumed and contaminated when 1 ton of lithium is extracted
Lithium production in 2020 was 82,000 tons
82,000 X 500,000 = 41,000,000,000 gallons of contaminated water in 2020
Not only is the water contaminated, the water is withdrawn from people in many places, so that these people have to struggle with water scarcity and huge pollution.
Don't fall for this deception, there are many better and eco-friendly sources, and yet somehow they always choose the worse one for the nature and humanity.
