well basically, she or he is required to explain everything they prepare to do to a patient ie: why I am putting an IV in you or why I'm taking so much blood or why I'm throwing these vials out. As a patient you have the right to ask about everything they are doing to you & the right to refuse. If a nurse walks in a room & just starts doing this or that, would you not want to know why they are doing this? Next time, start asking questions about everything they do.
