The Vatican changed Gods day of rest from Saturday to Sunday. “Nowhere in the Bible do we find that Jesus or the apostles ordered that the Sabbath be changed from Saturday to Sunday. We have the commandment of God given at creation then to Moses to keep holy the Sabbath day, that is, the Seventh day of the week, Saturday. Today, all Christians keep Sunday because it has been revealed to us by the [Roman] church outside the Bible.” Catholic Virginian, Oct. 3, 1947
“You may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we never sanctified.” James Cardinal Gibbons, The Faith of Our Fathers (1917 ed.), pp.72,73
“If protestants would follow the Bible, they should worship God on the Sabbath Day, that is Saturday. In keeping Sunday they are following a law of the Catholic Church.”

Actually, Martin Luther believed the Apostles did it because they were the only ones with the authority to do so. And, it was done early on - recorded in the Book of Acts.

Except Jesus fulfilled the Law for us & we are free from condemnation. The Apostles didn't change the Law when they started worshipping on Sunday instead of the Sabboth (Sat). They did it because Christ rose from the dead on the 1st day of the week. So now, every Sunday is Reserrection Sunday. Christ fulfilled the Law so we don't have to. We are free from its obligations in Christ.

That's a common but grave mis-reading of Romans.
"Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law" Rom3:31
Jesus said:
"If you love me keep my commandments" Jn14:15
"He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him" Jn14:21
from Revelation:
"Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus." Rev14:12
"And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ" Rev12:17
Eternity of the Sabbath:
"For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me [..] it shall come to pass, [that] from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD." Is66:22

I'm not saying the Law is voided. I'm saying that Jesus fulfilled the Law for us. If you understand Paul's writing, especially Gallatians, you know what I'm saying.

But arent you using that idea to justify ignoring the 4th commandment or supplanting it with Sunday?
In justifying Sunday worship you said we are 'free from its (the law 'fulfilled by Christ') obligation'. Does that apply to the 1st, 2nd and so forth? Ok if someone dates your spouse?
People only use that argument as regards the Sabbath ... but murder .. stealing? .. we still *have* to keep those.

I get where you're coming from because I went thru all those thoughts when I was trying to find an answer for a friend on WHY the 7th Day Adventists worship on the Sabboth & not Sun. I did ALOT of research and came to the decision that the 2nd Commandment applied to the Jews before Chris, not to Christians. I know I'll get alot of flak for that, but research Seventh Day Adventist Sabboth, read arguments pro & con & decide for yourself.

Finally .. the whole subject is so deep and rich w/ scriptural support.
"precept upon precept, line upon line ... here a little there a little"
We even have John in vision on Patmos being shown the heavenly sanctuary (the one the earthly was but a copy .. patterned after the heavenly as testified by Paul in Heb8:5) with the "ark of [God's] testament" within
"And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings .. " Rev11:19
What could that "ark of testament" BE other than the *original* ark/mercy seat of God containing His 'testament' ... His 10 commandment law .. where it still resides to this day.
No my friend there's really no way around the 7th Day Sabbath Truth than by vain and false doctrines of man.
I understand the *reason* (excuse) for keeping Sun-day/1st day in recognition of Jesus' resurrection but as good a *reason* as it may be there IS *no* scriptural support for 1st day sacredn

Then besides the argument given below one must consider what is the criteria of being a "Jew" in the first place.
Being 'Abraham's seed' yes? The 'son's and daughters of Abraham' and so forth which Paul goes into great detail making clear that if we are *in Christ Jesus* we are then also Abraham's seed ... 'grafted in' ... the 'adopted in' and 'natural branches' and 'root of the vine' and all that yes?
And even those 'natural branches, those "Jews" by blood, that rejected Jesus were liable to be cut off and burned in the fire etc.
No ... Jesus kept ALL the commandments of His father not so we no longer would have to but as our EXAMPLE of what is expected ... unto eternity ... of a child of God.
Afterall God's commandments reveal HIS CHARACTER.
How KEY has been *obedience* throughout the entire history of God's people? ... all the way back to the garden?
It's really not complicated.
It's been God's enemy who has made it so.
It *IS* written ... quite plain

Yes well, bottom-line, the answer to the 'it's for the Jews' argument has to do with the question 'where did the 7 day week originate?' There is no 'natural' (ie; no observational 'celestial' 7 day cycle has ever been found that could account for it for instance) or historical answer to that other than the Biblical creation week narrative.
Given that now read Genesis 2:1-3 and note that God not only *singularly* BLESSED the 7th day apart from the other 6 but He also 'sanctified' the 7th day which means 'set apart for Holy use or purpose'.
Then carefully read the Exodus20 rendition of the 4th commandment as written *by God* in *stone* and given Moses. Not only does it begin with the word "remember" making clear it was already *known* (even practiced in Egypt by the Hebrews who you'll recall were considered 'lazy' by the Pharaoh likely because they refused to work on that day) but it's language mirrors and points directly *back* to creation week before there ever were any "Je
