To me these eyes reflect fear. These people are deeply troubled about life. IMO opinion this results from living a life of lying, misrepresentations and deceit. Imagine trying to live life constantly trying to remember what falsehood you spoke and never relaxing in the truth. IMO it would make one "wide-eyed" and constantly searching their memory.
