It cannot be on accident that the same pedigreed lineages, secret fraternities, covert associations and black market bedfellows have consistently gained power, fame and wealth century after century without fail while throughout the rest of the world only a very lucky, hard working few are able (or allowed) to ever work their way up and join in their almost impossible to achieve ranks from the common classes. Most people barely manage to continue overworking themselves (almost to death) just to keep up with basic needs while a prestigious gentry profit from and thrive on the honest merit, good behavior, virtuous moral code and steadfast work ethic of the multitude.
