Of course, this could be faked or a (failed) equipment test! I am not yet convinced that the whole Apollo mission was faked. Yes, they must have used undeclared technologies (such as anti-gravity) when out of sight of any cameras or telescopes. Yes, many moon scenes were shot in the studio. National Geographic in particular wanted quality over veracity for propaganda purposes. Studio lighting works so much better in an atmosphere. We have to beat those damned Russkies, even if it means cheating.
