The Ever Given is a GOLDEN CLASS container ship and is a series of 11 container ships built for Evergreen Marine. The maximum theoretical capacity is in the range of 20,124 to 20,388 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU). The ships were built by Imabari Shipbuilding in Japan. The company is privately held and tightly controlled and run by the Higaki family that traces its roots to pirates in feudal Japan.
