The worldview we grew up with (spinning ball flying through an infinite vacuum) convinces us that stuff we don't understand can be simpy written off as untrue or "figurative".
The Bible is VERY literal and intentional with the way it was written, though it doesn't help that several book have been removed through the centuries.

I would recommend staying away from controlled "Flat Earth Society" types, as the Flat Earth Society does not align with the vast majority of actual flat earthers.
