Yes I found out that Mel Gibson isn't in the movie after posting this, but someone did comment saying maybe he financed or part financed the movie and that is why it was called his movie?

It is possible, but the only connection is Jim Caviezel who played Jesus in Mel's movie Passion of the Christ. So maybe its just an association?
