Its utter nonsense.

Hydroxychloroquine is NOT 'just qunine' or 'just tonic water'.

The difference is greater than you saying that bourbon is 'nothing but wood alcohol'.

The original post says that you can just drink tonic water as that has quinine in it (true, if you get stuff!) and quinine is exactly the same as hydroxychloroquine.

That's not true. There's a bit of a similarity in the ring shape of the molecule - hence the bit of 'quin' common to both names.

But its less similar than say methanol is to ethanol. They also share some structure similarities but you wouldnt tell someone that drinking anti-freeze or wood alocohol is the same as drinking bourbon!

Drinking tonic water does not cure or minimises the effects of COVID.
