If you sprayed vinegar on the plant, it would kill it too. Although vinegar is an acid and kills plants we ingest it. Perfume is 79-80% alcohol. Alcohol (which is neither base nor acid) needs to be diluted because the alcohol content in perfume can strip the protective coating from petals, stems and leaves leading to dehydration and damage.
