This verse reminds me of when God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son to prove that Abraham was faithful to Him. God sent His only begotten Son to die for us, a shepherd dying to protect His flock of sheep. Through His death and rebirth, we are able to live and understand why He lived and died for us. I must admit that I selfishly think about myself a tremendous amount, often neglecting to think of the ultimate sacrifice that Christ mad for you and me. I want to honor His sacrifice and this verse reminds me to do so more than any other.
