2020 ELECTION ballots were being shredded just days after the November presidential election in Cobb County, Georgia on November 20, 2020, by a mobile shredding and recycling company.
Under 52 U.S.C. § 20701, federal law requires for all ballots and other election records from any election involving federal offices must be retained and preserved for a period of 22 months from the date of the election. This applies to all states and territories for federal contests.
For purely state or local elections without federal races on the ballot, retention periods can vary by state law—often 6 to 24 months or longer depending on the jurisdiction—but the federal requirement sets the minimum standard when applicable.
Destruction is only permitted after this period, and only if no ongoing investigations, audits, or legal challenges require further preservation.

This historic election on November 3rd,2020 was my Mama's (96 years old that year) last opportunity to vote for President Trump to be re-elected. I took her in a wheelchair to the polling place. It was very cold. She was wrapped in blankets and the line was wrapped around the building. About halfway to the entrance someone told me that she would be immediately brought in if I wheeled her to the head of the line. I hesitated but took her forward and the crowd cheered her as we passed. I had to assist her to vote because she was almost blind and hard of hearing. So when inside, we swore to the oath of truth and proceeded to vote for DJT. My Mama was so proud to cast her last vote on earth for DJT. We were certain that he would easily win that election. The next morning when we awoke - the greatest shock was revealed. Those numbers on the TV had to be wrong. We watched in disbelief that he had lost. We knew it had been rigged and stolen. Were we somehow prophetic - no just common sense.
