When a squadron of gendarmes (about 100 men) arrived to dismantle the farmers blockades (with tractors and waste), the French Farmers – on the initiative of vice-president Amélie Rebière – symbolically went down on one knee. They turned on the flashing lights of their tractors and then sang La Marseillaise, the French national anthem.
