Did you know that to produce a single pound of honey, a colony of bees in a hive must collectively fly more than 55,000 miles (88,000 km) and visit around two million flowers?

That’s equivalent to orbiting around the Earth twice.

A bee may seem small, but they’re mighty workers and travelers in their own right.
My one super hive made 332lbs of honey this year with 60lbs left for winter

Honey is such a nutritious and essential food. It is so important for immune support. There needs to be more local honey produced IMO. 😇

I agree the US imports over 70% of its honey and a lot if it is not pure

The U.S. imports massive amounts of honey, with recent figures showing imports hitting a record high of around 562 million pounds in 2024, meeting over 70% of national demand as domestic production lags. Major suppliers include India, Argentina, Brazil, and Vietnam, with the U.S. acting as the world's largest importer, driven by high consumer demand for honey in food, beverages, and health products.

I do buy some local honey at our summer farmers market and reserve it for winter use as an additive to tea and an herbal mixture I make for immune health. I do wish there was more local honey available. 😇
