"A new study in JAMA Internal Medicine estimates that the 93 million CT scans performed in the U.S. in 2023 could lead to over 100,000 future cancer cases — including nearly 10,000 in children. These scans use ionising radiation, which, while beneficial when scans are clinically justified, can slightly increase cancer risk over time."
