Absolutely! Also, basic first aid. When my girls were growing up they learned a lot on the farm here, I made sure they helped and learned. Lol, even made them learn stick shift (floor & column.) I used to tell them that you never know what tough times you might face someday, better to know how to do something, and never need it, than to need to do something & haven't a clue or courage & confidence to do it if they need to. They do the same with their kids.
