always wondered whats the rush (docs lunch, hs surgery in 5 minutes. office full. tired i gotta get some sleep. etc etc). never asked them why but in a delivery table used way back when (maybe still i have no clue) they would have to stand there for about 5-10 minutes till the placenta separates from the uterus. (wasted time?? hemorrhage to death? get i it out get it out? rationale). not the benefit to the baby but time management only....i doubt they know the benefits even.. cause honestly i didnt until i took that lamaze instruction course.. it changed my life...today in birthing centers there is no reason why you cant let the placenta release and then clamp it not to lose that extra benefits.
