Can anyone explain this to me like I am a 2 year old?
OT-God said an eye for an eye. NT-Jesus said turn the other cheek. OT-God-Hate your enemy. NT-Jesus-Pray for your enemies. OT-God-sacrifices for your sins under the old covenant. NT-Jesus-The sacrifice to end all sacrifices, and a New Covenant. . Seems to me Jesus was telling us the God of the Old testament was not GOOD, or we would not have needed a New Covenant.

OT was legal framework. A way to be sure that the law was proportionate because God's spirit had yet to really be appreciated. By the time Jesus arrived, God's spirit was better understood and people were more apt to act compassionately. Hence the scripture on the law being purposed. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the response, but I am still confused about the Bible.
Guess I'll just stick to reading the Red. I have trusted Jesus' words my whole life, but I seem to understand His words a bit differently than others do.
I left the church because every sermon started with Jesus' words, but seemed to always end with Paul's, a man who killed christians, and enjoyed it, a man that never met Jesus when he was alive, a man who encouraged us to obey our governments because they wouldn't be in charge unless God allowed it.
