I deal with agoraphobia as in my personal "go out there" space and ability is compromised.
I have dealt with this for most of my life.
I am HIGHLY selective where I go and how long I am out.
Part of this is trauma (that I am working on).
And part of this is being awake - knowing your reality does not align with WHO YOU ARE.
I have felt that way my ENTIRE LIFE.
Being around anyone who does not "get it" - who does not "see" becomes uncomfortable to me.
It is the nature of us as humans and Spiritual beings to CONNECT
In order TO connect
in a real way we must be authentic.
And in today's world - doing that - can get you abandoned, or verbally attacked.
I don't need ANY of that. I have a lifetime of that
So until this world changes for the better, if I have to hide in the only place that feels safe and be VERY selective in where and how I venture out, and who I spend my time with, so be it.

I will not ever make light of this because I do know it is a serious condition. And no, you are not the problem. That said, living in a large blue city can come with some of the same dread. For whatever it is worth, I think I can understand bits of what you are dealing with.
