FYI: The answer is tributaries = natural springs, snow melt, creeks to streams to rivers to lakes . . .
Here's a link to a U.S. map that will allow zooming in to see all the minor tributaries up to streams and rivers that feed into areas that drop off ledges and create "water falling".
One may need a topo map to pin point NATURAL SPRINGS.
Anyone here live in the high rockies or other mountainous regions where 10 to 20 feet of snow falls annually! Takes months, even thru the summer for this snow to melt.
Especially in more shaded areas of the mountains!
Guess I'm fortunate to have experienced these places and have always been curious enough to explore and research!
