Lyme reared its ugly head the same time AIDS did; result: Lyme was neglected in lieu of AIDS.

People proved Lyme is a bioweapon. A newly bioengineered Lyme spirochete has outer surface proteins (OSPs) A, B, C, D, E, etc. and flagella. It's believed these OSPs may be disease entities along with the flagella which are fungi so a single bite can potentially transmit many diseases.
A Lyme vax, LymeRix, was introduced-1998. Sadly some patients were crippled after taking it.
FDA held a hearing where 3,000 patients testified about LymeRix damage, some in person, some via letters.
The result of the hearing: by 2000, the vax was off the market.
LymeRix spin: off market due to low sales.
Truth: off market due to adverse reactions. Since 2012 they've tried to get another Lyme vax to sell . . .
