Please note that one of those ancient maps has a label of 'hemisphere' printed at the top.
The makers of that map thought the world was a sphere. They knew cartography and knew they were drawing a 'polar coordinate' map view.
The four rivers of Genesis are explained quite well by Laurence Gardner when he brings evidence that there was a location named 'Ethiopia' in Mesopotamia which predates the African country by thousands of years. Also note that the Sumerian word for fertile grasslands was an "Eden".
