We home-schooled using Charlotte Mason Method. Reading over 50 books per year w/kids every year mandatory. That's how kids learn acute comprehension & how to write old school like Melville or Dickens and really absorb any subject including science or math, but in a way that allows kids to follow their own path and really learn out of real love of learning.
Charlotte Mason was a real Hero in children's education and she saw what the Cabal was doing to destroy kids a century ago and she countered it - her method is still going strong today and gaining momentum as parents Awaken to the indoctrination in schools.

Every parent should read about her. Susan Schaeffer Macauley's book For the Children's Sake is short and a great introduction. See also the website amblesideonline.com. Her original series has been paraphrased into modern English. It is enlightening and inspiring. I homeschooled starting with her principles. Love it.

parents have responsibility to work with the teachers and help their children read

they should teach kids every day after school and help read before bedtime

We need to change this! Reading is a huge passion of mine, although when I went completely blind about 7 years ago, it altered my world completely as mostly everything had been built on sight for me. Luckily they reattached both retnas and I can see out of one eye, which makes it difficult to read for me, but I love books, always have. I could just sit in a library and fall asleep, not at the quietness, but because I felt like home!

Also I believe that writing, books, etc are also a part of one of my lifetimes, as Seshat, Egyptian.

IMHO💛

One thing that can be done is for parents to read books to young children and begin teaching phonics and reading at home before a child goes to school. A love of learning to read starts at home. Parents can play games like showing a child a sign along the road and helping the child "sound it out" ie phonics. My kids made a game of trying to say the words on trucks, signs and such when we traveled.😇

You are right and wrong at the same time. You can teach phonics at home and when they get to school they are forced to learn "Whole Language" which only messes them up worse. Same for writing cursive. My eldest went into school knowing how to write in cursive and then the school forced her to write everything in print format. to this day, it is how she writes almost everything.

We found a lady in Houston who taught remedial lessons for victims of whole language and she found a correlation between it and lazy eye issues among other things. She did a 2 hour presentation to a group of us and I invited the investigative reporter from Channel 5 News. He followed up with a 3 day investigative expose on how bad whole language really was..
