Would make sense to me that they HID the water in deep underground caverns that they made, too. 🤔
There have been a lot of movies on that theme, too. Was one DUNE? Also a BOND movie if I remember right. Deserts above because all water hidden below. You might be on to something BIG.

I think the Bond Movie where they hide the waters of Bolivia underground is Quantum of Solace. Gonna watch that tonight.

They had PLENTY of underground space they could store it in, and of course no one can't find it if they don't issue any permits to drill. 🤔
