Jesus was very clear. It is all about relationship, not religion. He was strongly against the religious leaders of his time on earth because they oppressed the people with more laws and traditions. He called them a den of vipers who were controlled by their father the devil. They crucified Him. Religion causes bondage to laws, rules, regulations, doctrines. Jesus said He came to set the captives free (to the law and religious requirements.) He said His burden is light unlike the burden the religious leaders placed on the people. 😇
