In 1950 the U.S Navy sprayed bacteria in the Bay Area of California. [Operation Sea Spray]

Fast forward 54 years and rumors have it the fog everyone has been experiencing contains Serratia marcescens bacteria.
Serratia marcescens can make you sick. It's a gram-negative bacteria that can cause a range of infections in humans, from mild to severe:

Urinary tract infections (UTIs), Respiratory infections, Wound infections, Pneumonia, Sepsis, Meningitis, Endocarditis, and Ocular infections.

Serratia marcescens infections are more likely to occur in people with weakened immune systems or those who have had invasive medical procedures.

Serratia marcescens is resistant to many antibiotics, including penicillin, cephalosporin, tetracycline, macrolide, nitrofurantoin, and colistin. It can also grow in moist environments.
