I would like to share my story everywhere - but I have to be careful as the abuser is on my twitter page (where I do most of my truther work/sharing).
I often get asked "why don't you just leave?" "Why don't you live with friends or family?" "Why don't you go to a shelter?" "Why don't you call the police." "Take out a restraining order."
A friend of mine had been asking me similar questions - and when I not only shared what I have learned and answered her questions - it prompted her to look up the laws in my state. She said she was "floored" to read them.
Unless I have bruises on me or broken bones - documented w/in the last 6 months - and/or unless I have been raped - again documented w/in the last 6 months - the system provides no protection.

All other abuse is not recognized. It used to be a bit different about 10 years ago where you could call the police and they would say if they have to return w/in 24 hours they can arrest the abuser. Today they say "it's a civil matter" and leave.
Narcissistic abuse is INSIDIOUS.
It almost destroyed me.
I was naive - trusting - empathic - open - with a huge need to heal him.
Today thankfully I see what happened for I see myself - and the inner wounds - and I also see how narcissistic abuse is psychological torture.
They will be loving and kind and everything you want - they will listen and ask all the right questions - but it's all to reel you in.
Earn your trust.
Then they will go on the attack - out of the blue - making you question your reality, your sanity, yourself.
Back and forth this goes.
It's like a spell gets placed on you.
Not to be cute or even play victim - but that is exactly what happened to me.

It's been eye opening and so reassuring to read the stories of others - mostly women - but to read other people's experiences that explain exactly what I have gone through.
And how I got trapped in this toxic cycle.
Breaking it is literally like breaking an addiction.
That's what the experts in narc abuse now know - and say.
And I am experiencing that.
And it's so outrageous to me that drug addicts and alcoholics have more resources available to help them.
But I am intending with this Awakening that will change.
And women like myself will not only get the help and healing we need,
but we will be provided REAL housing that is SAFE, private (no more shelter b.s. where you're stuck with other women or in my state people who IDENTIFY AS a woman in a small space for a few weeks then you're forced out), stable and permanent - and AFFORDABLE.
