The educational system has stunk for a long time.
Fortunately, the cream will always rise to the top.
Good jobs should go to people that can actually do them well; not just people with degrees, but people with common sense and natural abilities.
The 'Man on the street' videos, where the interviewer asks simple questions to passersby, are very telling..

My son, niece & brother are engineers. We vacation with his 2 friends from engineering. My son went to private school but his 2 friends were in a good public school system in Ohio. They graduated in 2016 from a 5 years university because they Co op a semester 3 of the years. We have many very great engineers. I work for an IT company so does my son with about 400 employees and quite a few engineers. We have no H1b's only American citizens. My son's one friend was the main engineer with many from different countries mostly India under him. They assure you everything is going smoothly and the current project will be complete on time and it never happens. I hear that from others working with them too. He finally couldn't take it anymore after about 4 years and got another job this past September. There were claims that it was foreign engineers again mostly from India that were responsible for the Boeing 737 issues so bad they had to stop flying them for a long time.

I agree with most but the dumbing down was not incompetence, it was a well designed hijacking of a successful education model! The industrialist education system was designed to teach future factory workers to be “punctual, docile, and sober”. Rockefeller then moved the system into school consolidation as a means to enhance efficiency and control in the education system. Next was the "progressives" aka "communist" to basically control the kids against America and it's founding.
Who is teaching the children and what are they teaching them!!
