The United States is a Republican form of government. Don't confuse this with the party arguments, it doesn't mean you all have to be a "republican party" voter. We are not a democracy, not a democratic republic, we don't exercise democratic governing as we are and always have been a common law constitutional republic. The constitution even assures each state the right to a republican government.
A republican form of government leaves the people as leaders of their own lives, and governs with and through their consent only. Democracies have a government you cannot question much less stand up to so a democracy we are not. The word democracy appears not even in a single instance in the founding articles deliberately.
We are a "Republic" that honors the rights and sovereignty of the people as rightful masters and directors of their own lives.

The government here is accountable to the people per the Constitution. That's what being a "Republic" is and means, we're not a democracy.
