At a round-table discussion with a few Commissioners for a Michigan County.

Three of them stated that they are FOR our Clerks breaking federal & state law on electronic pole book record retention, because it is a Bureau of Elections “directive” for clerks to destroy that data 7 days after canvass.

Directives are not laws.

Also stated by one Commissioner, “I don’t want to be arrested for telling Clerks to keep their records, and the Clerks don’t want to be arrested for keeping the records”.

FOR FOLLOWING FEDERAL & STATE LAWS ON RECORD RETENTION.

If our clerks DO NOT retain their records, there can never be a full audit of our election, as the first record in chain of custody will have been destroyed, the poll book record.

I think it’s time to bring lawsuits against our elected officials for not retaining our VERY IMPORTANT election records. They are ours, the people’s.
