I do not think most people want to sit around. The people who refuse to participate (or we are told do not want to work and have everyone support them) are choosing to do so because they understand no matter how talented or hardworking or honest or rule-abiding they are, the system is set up to only reward certain people. You can see this everywhere now. We have talented journalists and writers and artists thrown out in favor of mass produced, possibly written by AI or exploited work and other people taking credit for it. We have smart intellectuals in academia who are forced to let 60 and 70 and 80 year olds take credit for their work or push the agenda-of-the-day and if they do not comply they are tossed out. Same with scientists and I am sure many other fields.
