As of 16 Apr 2024, Israel has lost the Balfour contract.1 The Balfour Declaration of 1917, which endorsed the establishment of a Jewish state, was set up to equip Jews with the tools to establish self-rule, at the expense of the Palestinian Arabs.0 Lord Roderick Balfour, a descendant of the UK foreign secretary who penned the document, stated that Israel is failing to honor the terms of the document by mistreating Palestinians.3 The Balfour Declaration was based on miscalculations, anti-Semitism, and propaganda, and set in train a war that is yet to end.2 It was also a cage for the Jews, whose numbers the British worked to keep below a third of the population. By 1939, the Zionists had come to see the Balfour Declaration as a promise never kept, and it wouldn't be until November 1967 that the state of Israel even thought to commemorate its issuance.
