They are in the path of totality for the eclipse. Small towns expecting to be overrun by hundreds of thousands of people. Putting major drain on resources. Think if a small town of a thousand people with maybe a gas station/convenience store, Dairy Queen and a few other businesses suddenly had even 10 or 20 thousand people show up. Just imagine directing that kind of traffic. Someone that was in one of the small towns that had this happen in 2023 said they had to bring in portapotties. There are many such towns in the path in my state. And all these states and municipalities have been planning this for awhile like a couple years. Being in one of the major states been hearing about it all for months so doesn’t seem sudden to me. As one Sheriff said they rely on neighboring counties when they need backup. But those counties will be dealing with their own stuff. And also why schools are closing, traffic, and possible overloads on communication circuits.
