There was a time in American History when public hangings were not only a deterrent to criminals, but a form of entertainment. The U.S. Marshall would spend his time rounding up criminals in the jail until the judge could come to town and hold trials. Those found guilty of crimes that were punishable by hanging, would have to wait for the hang man to show up, build gallows, and execute the prisoners.

Large crowds of the town's people would come out to witness the week's criminals being hung in the town square.

I'm not suggesting that we hang car/horse thieves, but corrupt politicians are a good place to start. We elect and put trust in these people to safeguard our best interests in Congress and the White House.

I remember hearing my grandma, born in Price, Utah, telling me how thieves were hung when caught.
Horse thieves
She was with her parents, a very young child 5-6 yo
She saw her first and last hanging.
She couldn't get the image out of her head
I don't recommend watching hangings.
I'm 70 yo
So the incident took place a long time ago.
Wild, wild west.
