This has been my experience. It takes time and repeated conversations and interactions with people to emerge. Exchanges should be in person because anybody can be anyone on the internet. Online dating taught some of us that๐

There was a story about a guy yesterday who manipulates the algorithm by constantly creating new profiles so he has fresh eyes on him wherever he goes. Women do this too, I am reading an interesting book right now where these girls are doing it across different cities over the summer. When I tried online dating years ago, my fear was will the person look like their pictures? If I were to try today, my biggest fear would be what am I dealing with here? ๐

I hear you, talk about misleading profiles
Many years ago at the behest of a friend to try online dating, I gave in so he would leave me alone about it. After several weeks of nothing, this beautiful woman contacts me via their app, so I reply, the usual back and forth convo, when the time arrived to meet we agreed on a coffee shop, but I went to pick her up at her home, when I get there, it was a dude! Yes a very feminine guy, apparently he was using his sister's profile and they were twins, as I was loudly explaining to him that I AM not gay and what he did was vehemently wrong, she happens to walk in. It was not the first time he had used her profile. She apologized for what he did. It put a sour taste for online dating, I truly do not care for it after that incident

I was thinking there are maybe AI, clones, and dangerous people hiding behind profiles, but I understand your story. Sadly, I had a lot of "separated" men who were not actually separated and never said they were separated anyways until the in person. It does not feel good to be deceived into something.
