The current crop of monarchs is nowhere near as ruthless or intelligent as their predecessors. But the institution of the monarchy is the glue that holds the “deep state” together. Without the legal foundation the monarchy provides (secrecy, immunity, command structure, etc), the entire secret intelligence apparatus [including CIA] would fall apart.
