I have these ingredients always ready to go by my pool. Baking soda raises pH.
Borax stabilizes pH from rising too quickly, makes the water feel softer and more sparkly and prevents algae from growing (algaestat). Thus, you can lower chlorine by 1-2ppm.
Coconut oil is nice on skin, smells good and can be used for the grill.

Bicarbonate of soda is baking soda, just a different name to describe the same ingredient (sodium bicarbonate). In the USA, baking soda is the more popular term. While bicarbonate of soda is popular everywhere else.
Pure baking soda does not contain aluminum. Baking powder does. Although there are aluminum-free baking powder options.
