What is Henry McMaster doing with all the fuel tax money?

July 1, 2019 the 3rd phase of the SC gas tax hike took effect
per gallon taxes climb from 20.75 to 22.75 cents.
This climbed to 28.75 – an increase of 71.6 percent above its former level. It is projected to deprive taxpayers of $1.8 billion over its first 5 years and $600 million each year after. Guess what! Roads fvcked and still outta money!!!

You'd think the imposition of such a massive tax increase would translate immediately (enacted 7 years ago) into widespread, noticeable improvements in the roads and bridges South Carolinians traverse on the daily. Unfortunately not.

SCDOT got $2.6 billion in 2019. That’s a $191 million (or 8 percent) increase from the previous year. A big chunk of this funding increase – $53 million – went toward "maintenance".

Funding increases for "maintenance" are expected to be included in the state budget scheduled to take effect on July 1, 2023.

All politicians are corrupt. All tax is at least 75% laundered money becoming graft for the elite pyramid.

Jan, 2022... McMaster's Executive Budget invests heavily in "recommending" $500 million in 2022-23 funds to expedite road and bridge projects. Plus a recurring investment of $100 million in state funds that will "leverage" federal infrastructure investment and increase SCDOT's revenues by $250 million per year. Magic?

Critical infrastructure needs are unmet, state leaders have been blowing money on pet projects of dubious value – including the widening of a sparsely traveled two-lane road from Florence, S.C. to Pamplico, S.C., or the construction of the infamous “interchange of hope” in Dillon, S.C.

That latter project, incidentally, is part of an aspirational bid to secure funding for Interstate 73 – a totally pointless project that continues to drain resources.

They are also pumping hundreds of millions of dollars into crony capitalist giveaways that steal resources from citizen's needs to subsidize corporate welfare.
