Tip:
One way if you cannot be in the room with your family member, is to be on the phone with said family member, and have another family member call in to the nurses station, twice, as my mom is having trouble breathing and she had hit the button repeatedly AND my oldest called the second time and they lied and said a nurse went in the room, when I was on the phone with her and she can barely talk. F ing liars! It has taken over 20 minutes and still no nurse in her room!

By the time the nurse came in was 30 minutes later, she claimed she put the phone up to my mom's ear, but I was on the phone listening and I heard no nurse, period! Comfort care doesn't mean they give her medicine every 2 or 4 hours, it is "as needed" so if my mom is sleeping, they do not wake her, and make the medicine wear off before she can get it again. I just don't want her in any pain. Not what game they are playing as yesterday she was on 4 mg Morphine and last night her blood pressure was 180 over 60, not today it was 137 over something and doc said normal and she is down to only 2mg morphine? And then the nurse comes on to day, that my mom is dying, so why play with the pain meds? Last night when I spoke with her, she didn't even know where she was or the date or day. So how is she able to decide her own pain meds? Fishy fishy! Sorry, just needed to rant, this stinks, but these are my mom's wishes to be on "comfort care".

Something similar happened to my dad when he was in the hospital. He had a hole in his esophagus & his nurses kept leaving solid food in front of him. They didn't even remove the brkfst tray that was untouched when leaving a new one. He was weak, starving & smelling food infront of him but couldn't eat or he'd choke. When questioned, nurses lied even though the tray(s) were clearly infront of him. But what they didn't know was that my mom worked in health care at that time & knew their boss. The trtmnt towards my father quickly changed but I'm sure they were still treating the other patients poorly.
I worked in a Nursing home when I was younger. Broke my heart to see how some of the nurses were cold to their patients. It was just a job for them. IDGI. I quit because I got emotionally attached.
I will say my prayers for you and your mom, my fren!
