What they do not count for is individualism, and the individual's ability to make up their own mind.
If Collectivism had a book it might look like this
Chapter 1: Groupthink: we are sheep, or Individualism need not apply
Chapter 2: Collectivism 101: There must be Balance and Utopia.
Part 1 Everything embraced is good; everything outside the collective is non-conformant or evil, and cannot exist
Part 2: You’re Inferior and I’m Superior; Special talents need not apply
Part 3: The Teeter-totter balance of selective general history
