Interesting thought. Could explain why the Stars are flickering like there is a water in between. But, is there something more to it?

The pictures of stars viewed through terrestrial telescopes looking like they are in water is because the atmosphere has a lot of water in it. No big mystery.

Garage built vacuum chambers can be drawn down to very near vacuum by an HVAC pump. They can get close enough to be experimentally valid. Dismissing these amateur physicists is a mistake on par with dismissing amateur researchers (anons).

An explosion in vacuum (rocket in space) would be more effective at propulsion than at sea level pressure.
