In response Mandy ... to her Publication
My daughter did this during a particularly difficult time in our lives when we were transient because of my work. I was a subfield parent then. She collapsed into a grasp of tears one morning at the age of 8 and just didn't want to engage after moving yet again. That morning my heart sank with hers and I took the entire day off and she "skipped school" for reconnecting fun.
From that day forward I chose a day or two at random where I would plan a "Skip Day" (even if she was already at school) and checked her out for Mom and Me time. She never knew when and that was always a great surprise.
Strict life schedules should never override love. To this day, decades later, we still skip school together. ❤
