Question
How far is deception carried before it becomes betrayal?

Ah, but 'they' have REMOVED the ENTIRE definition to suit them in their Crimes. From the Noah Webster First AMERICAN 1828:

To Draw in, to Betray, to commit Treason.

Treason is the highest crime of a civil nature of which a man can be guilty. In general, it is the offense of attempting to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance, or of betraying the state into the hands of a foreign power.

Removed from the definition as you have noted:

In the united States, treason is confined to the actual levying of war against the United States (This does not mean only by the taking up of arms), or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort.
