Not just that, Alaska is the only state that has rank choice voting. It's extremely flawed!

Maybe not so much. Right now Palin and Begich are splitting the Repub vote. As much as I despise Palin, I'd rather her than a Dem (I think) and with a split vote, the Dem actually has a shot in AK. However, with rank choice, if the Repubs who vote for Begich should be outnumbered, their votes will go to Palin and not the Dem.

A good question indeed - am not sure. At first I was very concerned about the system but did see some benefits from split votes. I will definitely be following up on it to see how it plays out and make sure it isn't being used to further fraudulent voting practices.
