I went into medicine b/c I had a delighful great aunt who was one of the 1st women MDs to graduate from U.Md in the 1920's,did internship @ BELLVUE in NYC; had to to ride IN the 🚑 w/ crew, all night when on call. She did the HEALTHMOBILE on Eastern Shore of MD ~ Depression & summers to float her private practice back in VA home town, until the women & children "clicked" w/her.
After that, she was ALWAYS in demand: SO smart, SO kind, ran office as "walk in", w/ BEST wood puzzles & toys.
OV $3 when she shut her practice @ age 85. Had delivered "half the town" by age 80.
From my POV, to be "like her" meant learning from obseving, asking wrt & doing what all SHE did & endorsed.
As Christians, we used "❌holds barred" ways of KNOWING "WHAT's WHAT" (even if VAGUE @ points:.👁1 Cor.13:9-13)
& learned to ACCEPT that solutions come from GOD & tend to be served⬆️, like manna, fresh & "just in time",w

I'm familiar with what you're talking about. Dad practiced family medicine and general surgery before being run out of the hospital by specialists back in the 70's. He retired in '07 after 41 yrs and I learned much of my bedside manner from watching him over the years. After 24 yrs as a bedside Critical Care RN I can say that the majority of physicians I worked with were arrogant, rude, unethical, and unprofessional. Kind of like crooked politicians that know that they are protected by the "system". Not just with hospital staff, but with families. Weekly drama. They don't even like each other. A day is soon coming when healthcare workers who have lost their jobs for speaking up, been blackballed from hospital systems, or stayed silent watching persistent ethics violations will be coming forward in droves. RICO and Crimes against Humanity is going to claim a lot of these healthcare providers and their system. My prayer of seeing justice as a patient advocate is being answered.
